Kadala curry means chickpeas curry .its very popular and traditional dish of kerala .its mainly have with puttu and this combination is  perfect in every way.the chickpeas  contains large amount of  protein and we can make it as a gravy or dry curry .
                chickpeas is the main ingredient in this dish.this is  a nutritious and healthy food .first take the cooker and add required amount of water and peas .note the thing that soak the kadala overnight before it cook.then add   the spices turmeric,chilly,coriander,and green chilly salt ,oinion,salt ,tomato and close the cooker .allow to cook for 5-6 whistle in low flame and  set an another pan on fire and add oil .mustard,curry leave and red chilly.then add the mixture into the kadala curry .it make the curry more tasty .


  1. peas
  2. water
  3. turmaric powder
  4. chilly powder
  5. coriander powder
  6. green chilly
  7. onion
  8. tomato
  9. red chilly 
  10. mustard

Steps of making

  • Take a cooker and add required amount of  peas (peas must be put in water before one day ,it makes cooking easy). 
  • Then add turmeric powder ,coriander powder ,green chilly,salt,onion,tomato ,chilly powder and close the cooker and cook in low flame for 5-6 whistle.
  • Then put a pan in flame and put some oil and add mustard and curry leaves and red chilly.then put this into the cooker .
  • Serve this into a bowl.


  • Take some cornflour and add some water in it and put this into the curry.it makes the kadala  gravy thick.
